Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson set a new franchise record for yards from scrimmage in the 2025 season, finishing with 2,298 yards. This figure led all NFL players for the year and is the 12th highest single-season total in league history.

Robinson, who is 23 years old, became only the third player in Falcons history to lead the NFL in this category. The previous two were William Andrews in 1981 and Julio Jones in 2015. His achievements this season earned him a second consecutive Pro Bowl selection and his first All-Pro honor from The Associated Press.

Tyler Allgeier also contributed significantly to the team’s ground game, leading all Falcons players with eight rushing touchdowns. Robinson followed closely with seven rushing scores.

Looking ahead to 2026, several running backs remain under contract: Bijan Robinson, Nathan Carter, and Carlos Washington Jr., who is on a future/reserve deal. Tyler Allgeier is set to become a free agent.

Allgeier was drafted by Atlanta in the fifth round of the 2022 draft and set a rookie franchise record that year with 1,035 rushing yards on 210 carries. Since then, his role has shifted following Robinson’s arrival as the primary rusher after being selected in the first round of the 2023 draft.

When asked about his future after Atlanta’s Week 18 win against the New Orleans Saints, Allgeier said: “We’ll see. I don’t know. That’s (up to) the front office, I guess. It’s my first time being a free agent, so it should be very interesting what happens.”

He added: “I always had my eyes on being the starter. Obviously, when we had B come in, that kind of diminished it. But I think I always had the mindset of being a starter. … We’ve trained ourselves to be a starter, so that’s the goal, but who knows? We’ll see if we put enough film (together) to be able to say that.”

The Atlanta Falcons are based in Atlanta, Georgia and compete in the National Football League’s NFC South Division as an expansion team founded in 1965 (official website). The team has reached the Super Bowl twice since its inception (official website).
