Atlanta United has signed Sal Mazzaferro, Rodrigo Neri, and Patrick Weah to Short-Term Agreements ahead of the team’s match against Inter Miami CF on Saturday. In addition, Adyn Torres has been called up from roster slot 31 for the fixture.
The club made these moves in accordance with the 2025 MLS Roster Rules and Regulations. Under these rules, clubs can sign players aged 25 or younger from their affiliate teams (MLS NEXT Pro) to a maximum of four short-term agreements per season. Each agreement can last up to four days, with a total limit of 16 days per player each season. Players may be included on up to four MLS league season match rosters but are limited to appearing in no more than two league matches per season under such agreements.
Sal Mazzaferro, age 24, joined Atlanta United 2 in January 2025 and made his First Team debut during a Leagues Cup match against Atlas FC in August. He started all 27 matches he played for ATL UTD 2 this season, led the team in minutes played, scored three goals, provided one assist, and served as captain. This is his third short-term agreement with Atlanta United this year.
Rodrigo Neri, who is 20 years old and originally from Miami, signed with ATL UTD 2 in July 2024 after time at Valencia CF’s Academy in Spain and Atlético de Madrid’s Academy system. In MLS NEXT Pro play this year, he started ten of his twenty-five appearances and recorded six goals along with one assist. This marks his second short-term agreement for the current season.
Adyn Torres signed with ATL UTD 2 in May 2023 and became an Atlanta United Homegrown player effective January 2024. He is notable for being the first player to progress through every level of Atlanta United’s development pathway—from Regional Development School through the Academy—before joining ATL UTD 2. Torres debuted for the First Team in May during a U.S. Open Cup match and currently leads ATL UTD 2 in career appearances.
Patrick Weah joined ATL UTD 2 at the start of this year after coming through Minnesota United’s Academy and playing college soccer at Saint Louis University. He previously appeared five times in MLS competition for Minnesota United before moving to Atlanta. Weah led ATL UTD 2 with nine goals this season while also providing two assists across eleven starts out of twenty-four appearances; this is his first short-term agreement with Atlanta United.
