Sunday marks a significant opportunity for Atlanta United 2 as the team aims to secure its first-ever playoff appearance in MLS NEXT Pro. Currently positioned in 10th place, Atlanta United 2 faces Chattanooga FC at 1 p.m. ET in what is effectively a must-win match to keep their postseason hopes alive.

The team needs not only a victory or a shootout win but also favorable results from other matches to qualify for the eight-team playoff format. The scenarios for clinching a spot are complex and depend on outcomes involving Carolina Core FC, Toronto FC II, FC Cincinnati II, and Orlando City B.

Atlanta United 2 and Chattanooga FC are no strangers this season. Their most recent encounter began on September 24 at Fifth Third Stadium but was interrupted after just over 70 minutes due to heavy rain. Play resumed on October 2 at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Training Ground, where Atlanta United 2 had several opportunities but ultimately could not overcome the deficit during the shortened continuation.

As the regular season concludes, all eyes will be on whether Atlanta United 2 can achieve this milestone. The match will be available for viewing via MLS Season Pass and on radio through Soccer Down Here.
