The Atlanta Falcons have started their search for a new general manager after parting ways with Terry Fontenot following the 2025 NFL season. The process is being managed with support from ZRG Partners and Sportsology Group, and updates on candidate interviews will be provided by the team’s editorial staff.
The Falcons, based in Atlanta, Georgia, are members of the National Football League’s NFC South Division and were established as an expansion franchise in 1965. Among those interviewed for the general manager position are:
Joe Douglas, who currently serves as senior personnel director/advisor to the general manager for the Philadelphia Eagles. Douglas previously held roles with the New York Jets as general manager from 2019-24 and spent significant time with both the Baltimore Ravens and Chicago Bears. His background includes contributing to multiple Super Bowl-winning teams.
Mike Bradway is assistant general manager for the Kansas City Chiefs. He joined Kansas City in 2018 and helped build a roster that won three Super Bowls during his tenure. Bradway also worked with the Philadelphia Eagles prior to joining Kansas City.
Josh Williams holds the role of director of scouting and football for the San Francisco 49ers. Williams has been part of the 49ers organization for 15 seasons in various scouting capacities and participated in the NFL’s Front Office and General Manager Accelerator Program.
Ian Cunningham is assistant general manager for the Chicago Bears. He has nearly two decades of NFL experience including positions with both Chicago and Philadelphia, where he contributed to playoff runs and a Super Bowl win.
Andy Weidl serves as assistant general manager for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He has played a role in overhauling Pittsburgh’s offensive line since joining in 2022 and previously worked within personnel departments for both Philadelphia and Baltimore.
James Liipfert was promoted to assistant general manager by the Houston Texans in 2025 after serving as director of college scouting since joining Houston in 2018. He also spent nine years working within New England Patriots’ scouting operations during periods when they secured multiple division titles and Super Bowl championships.
