Alston & Bird is pleased to announce that a deal the firm was involved in has been recognized by The Deal Awards 2022 as the “Most Outstanding Deal of the Year.” This award recognizes “transactions that were first movers in their markets, overcame overwhelming obstacles, set the tone for a market, or laid a template for future transactions.”
Alston & Bird was commended for its work on “Discovery Acquires Warner Media from AT&T for $43 Billion,” which was awarded the top honor of the 2022 program for being the most impressive deal overall. Stuart Rogers, partner in the firm’s Financial Advisors Team, served as counsel to RBC Capital Markets, the financial advisor to Advance Publications Inc., a significant stockholder in Discovery, in Discovery’s $43 billion combination, via a Reverse Morris Trust transaction, with AT&T’s Warner Media.
The Deal Awards celebrate the “advisers, professionals, firms, and banks driving the market forward” in activism, mergers, acquisitions, private equity, and restructuring. Deals under consideration were announced or completed between June 1, 2021, and May 30, 2022, and involved at least one party based in the U.S.
